Rust Is Beautiful

I once heard that people resemble their cars (and their dogs, but here's to hoping that's not true). I really like old cars. When I was younger, my dad had an old Dodge and I loved to ride in it! We never went too far; just around the Clawson Town blocks and occasionally down the highway for just a minute. When I opened the door and sat on the seat, I was joyful.

One Halloween, my mom and Vicki needed to get themselves to Ferron, so they fired up the ol' Dodge and before they reached their destination, it broke down leaving them stranded on the side of the highway looking like this:

The Dodge is gone now, but at least we have the dump truck:

I have only been on one cruise in this beaut. Hopefully someday, it will feel up to running some more!

And now, for the epitome of luxury in cars:

That there is the Biscayne! This car can go anywhere! One year, we loaded up the entire family and drove the Biscayne all the way up to the TV tower.

We could have easily squeezed a few more people in!

For those who don't know, the TV tower is up on the top of a mountain. The Biscayne handled those mountain roads with pure ease and smoothness. It was like gliding over the ocean waves in a canoe! So what if just before we reached the summit we blew a shock or some suspension or something and were sitting practically on the ground?

A few years ago, my sisters were taking piano lessons and the night came for them to have their recital. You can imagine their thrill when we decided to load the family up once more and make our grand entrance at the piano recital driving the Biscayne!
This car is loved by young and old alike. It has a minor muffler issue and sounds like a semi pulling into the yard ever since it backfired a couple of times downtown Clawson and blew a hole in the exhaust. We won't discuss how that happened!

Looking back through the history of these fine collectible cars, it's clear to see that it doesn't take much to make my heart happy. I was just a kid when we had the Dodge, but I was a grown-up person for the other two. And if it's true that we resemble our cars, then I'm really hoping I can be the Biscayne. . . Pure class!

This is me at the TV tower and that is the view from up there. This is so you can see that it really is on top of a mountain.

About Me

My photo
My name is Mandie. I am a lover of the Fall season, cloudy weather, rural places, potato chips, getting mail, family, friends, the gospel, Winston, writing and so much more! I needed a hobby, so I started a blog. My life is normally pretty boring, blogging has given me a reason to try new things and be aware of the world around me because surely there is something to learn every day if we are paying attention!
